Matcha Wazuka Premium is a high-quality green tea from the Wazuka region of southern Japan, an area renowned for its long-standing tea-growing tradition.
This matcha is produced from Tencha tea leaves. Approximately four weeks before harvesting, the tea plants are shaded and protected from direct sunlight. Growing in the shade increases the levels of chlorophyll and amino acids in the leaves, giving the tea its vibrant green colour and rich umami flavour.
After harvesting, the leaves are carefully dried and separated from their stems and veins. They are then slowly ground into an exceptionally fine powder using traditional stone mills.
Its complex flavour initially reveals light spicy notes, followed by rich umami and a pleasantly sweet, lingering finish. The tea is packed in a traditional metal tin. Tin designs may vary, making each package distinctive and an excellent choice for a gift.
Preparation
